The start of many new adventures

Sat on the sofa with a cat and a bowl of cereal.

I've been inspired to head into the hills on foot for a while now. About a year in fact when I couldn't face my bike again after the last HT550.

This year I have started reading Jenny Tough's book "Solo" and it has inspired me to do it properly. Do away with my overweight climbing pack from 1990 and invest in a fast n light pack.

To get the full expedition experience I ran a 6km lunchtime run this week as well as riding to work and "playing tennis" last night for the first time in decades.

I am setting out calorie deficient and tired but I can't wait to see where I get to tonight... Once I've finished faffing and packing up my new toys.

Update to follow.

June BAM

My good friend Landslide gave me a bike ride kicking that made me realise how unfit I've got and I smashed my foot on a rock but it was the *best* evening out.

I slept all of 3 hours due to arriving at 1.30am and forgetting my ear plugs so the barking grouse and skylarks had me awake at 4am. Snoozed till 7 then had breakfast with Landslide.

He went off to kids football and I hung around till 9 watching nothing much and chatting with a few passers by.

Took a slightly longer route home to stay on the moors as long as possible and avoid traffic with a neat diversion into the Apple shack cafe for third breakfast.
